Mattress Care

Sleeping on a new mattress, like wearing a new pair of shoes, may require a short breaking in period for your body to fully adjust. If you have been sleeping on a soft mattress, your body will soon adjust to this extra support and you will experience a new dimension in sleeping comfort.

Body impressions in your new mattress are not structural defects; rather, they indicate that the comfort level is conforming to your body’s contours. To equalize these impressions, turn your mattress end-to-end regularly (every 2 weeks for the first three months of use; every month thereafter).

Most mattresses cannot be bent excessively. Bending may damage the innerspring unit. When selecting or moving your mattress, keep in mind the difficulties in delivering it to its intended room. Flex - don’t bend - the mattress when going through doorways, and don’t bend the corners when putting on fitted sheets.

When purchasing your mattress, replace the box spring as well. Firm box springs promote long service life and lasting comfort of your mattress, while soft or sagging box springs can damage your mattress. Mattresses and box springs are designed to be used as correlated units; performance is directly related to the box spring that your new mattress rests on.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Bending or doubling your innerspring mattress during moving or turning could cause the heavy-gauge edge wire to sag.
  • Side handles, if provided, are to be used only for positioning the mattress on the box spring. They will not support the weight of the mattress and should never be used for lifting or turning.
  • King and queen size bedding must be supported by a bed frame with a rigid crosswise center support or center legs for the warranty to apply.
  • We highly recommend that a new mattress always be used with a new and matching box spring.
