When a legendary 1920’s lakefront estate came on the market, the client commissioned Marie Meko to help transform the aging but still-lovely house into a modern family home. Instead of recreating the past with a period restoration, they embraced the opportunity to renovate, rebuild, and add on to the home to reflect the many facets of the client’s lifestyle while honoring the pedigree and graceful bones of the house.
By utilizing space from a former hallway, Marie was able to create a bar to also serve the dining room and library. A spectacular, backlit honey onyx bar top draws guests in for a cocktail. On either side of the diamond-paned window, Marie lined the walls with mirrors and glass shelves, and arranged colorful bottles and crystal decanters to catch the light. A trio of bar stools upholstered in leopard and black leather invites guests to linger in this luxurious, new-old space.
